The interior design here unites alpine tradition and rustic charm in a simple, modern form. It provides a harmonious environment for relaxation after a day in the mountains or simply for enjoying a meal in an exceptionally designed interior.
The traditional guesthouse Bärnstatt is nestled in the beautiful natural landscape of the Wilder Kaiser, surrounded by tranquil and sunny mountain scenery. For decades, it served as an example of alpine hospitality. A contemporary renovation and refurbishment of the restaurant area became necessary.
The objective was to create an interior design that harmoniously blends modern elegance with traditional alpine elements. Furthermore, the seating capacity was not to be reduced. It was also essential to enhance operational workflows and functionality. Additionally, a spacious buffet area needed to be integrated.
The use of natural wood in the furnishings and on the walls creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding mountain landscape. The robust, yet aesthetically appealing wood imparts a rustic character to the space, while the clean lines and modern forms of the furniture and decorative elements convey contemporary elegance.

The restaurant’s lighting is expertly designed to highlight intimate corners while simultaneously creating a sense of spaciousness. Modern pendant lights elegantly suspended above the tables provide focused illumination, enhancing the room’s ambiance. Additional recessed fixtures in the shelving and above work surfaces ensure a well-lit environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Large windows allow natural light to flood in, offering guests picturesque views of the surrounding landscape.
The restaurant’s floor plan is meticulously designed to offer both intimacy and openness. Separated seating areas, featuring stylish wooden partitions that playfully incorporate geometric forms, ensure guest privacy while preserving an overall sense of spaciousness and accessibility. The combination of banquettes and individual chairs provides flexible seating arrangements suitable for both solo diners and groups. This interior design facilitates a seamless experience, allowing visitors to feel both connected and comfortably secluded.
