OLYMP Mountain SPA

Hochgurgl, Tyrol, Austria

Relaxation with a panoramic view at 2,150 m

A SPA interior design project by OLENA Innenarchitektur for the Sporthotel Olymp 4* in Hochgurgl, with direct access to the slopes in one of the most beautiful regions of Sölden.

The project includes the renovation and expansion of the existing SPA area. The structural architectural plans for the new SPA had already been submitted, but still required improvement and optimization of the premises, the complete furnishing planning, the room organization, and also the complete planning of the new SPA equipment.

Architectural challenges and creative solutions

Architectural features of the project presented some challenges. The complex static situation of the existing building significantly influenced and restricted the rooms. Therefore, relatively narrow rooms with several free-standing static elements in the rooms formed the basis for the project development. This made planning, interior design and furnishing considerably more difficult. Nevertheless, functionality had to be smoothly guaranteed, processes had to be coherently organized, and the number of places, both in the relaxation rooms and in the SPA cabins, had to be adapted to the requirements and the number of guests.

However, it is the strength of OLENA Innenarchitektur’s professional planning to conceal disadvantages, turn them into advantages and make the most of the existing situation in order to develop hotel projects with perfect functionality.

The new SPA area of the Sporthotel Olymp 4* project in Hochgurgl is a complex facility that has everything for discerning guests. Several comfortable and atmospheric relaxation rooms, a panoramic pool area and exceptionally high-quality SPA equipment, such as the new Finnish sauna with mountain views, the modern steam bath and the experience showers, complement the offer. An existing, timeless sauna has been preserved and harmoniously integrated into the new concept.

Modern hotel interior design that attracts everyone’s attention. A relaxation room that seduces to amazement

Planned and visualized Spa relaxation room at Sporthotel Olymp by OLENA Innenarchitektur – modern concept with wood, fire, and elegance.

The panoramic relaxation room combines modern design, exceptional details, comfort and the fascinating view of the Alps. You enter the room and the atmosphere changes immediately: dimmed light, warm wooden surfaces, the flickering glow of the effect fire. A relaxation room that makes the senses curious.

The SPA planning brings function and emotion into harmony: spacious and comfortable relaxation loungers offer the perfect opportunity to relax, while thoughtful separations create a private atmosphere for each guest. Despite the narrow floor plan, the organization is precisely thought out. Every view, every perspective is consciously designed to create an experience of spaciousness and intimacy at the same time.

The interior design relies on effects: dynamic details, special lighting effects in combination with natural materials, soft textures and structured surfaces. This interior design thrives on contrasts: cool stone meets warm wood, clear, straight lines meet striking round shapes. The room presentation gives a wellness experience that you will not forget.

The lighting concept as a central design element

The lighting concept in the interior design of this SPA project plays a central role. Decorative circles of light on the ceiling with warm light in the form of thin, integrated LED strips that create a special atmosphere, floating side tables with gentle underlighting, as well as asymmetrical golden lights with an extraordinary design from the “Dark & Bright Star” series by Bomma – they all support the concept. You have the feeling of watching falling stars from the dark sky.

Different lighting levels, from general lighting to accent lights to atmospheric details, create a harmonious overall composition that optimally showcases the room both in everyday life and on special occasions.

The back wall of the loungers and other wooden surfaces are also illuminated with LED strips, which emphasizes the structure of the old wood and creates a pleasant atmosphere in the room.

Harmonious color scheme and material composition

The color scheme relies on a harmonious combination of earthy natural tones and elegant accents that convey both tranquility and elegance. Warm wood surfaces in various shades of brown form the basis and create a cozy, alpine atmosphere. This is complemented by dark wall surfaces and ceilings in anthracite, which give the room depth and emphasize intimacy.

Subtle shades of gray in the textiles and loungers round off the concept, take tension out of the strong wood and ensure balance.

The interplay of dark, soothing colors and warm, luminous details creates an atmosphere of security, luxury and timeless elegance – a color concept that perfectly matches the idea of an exclusive wellness and SPA area.

SPA equipment as an integral part of hotel interior design.

With well-thought-out SPA planning, interior design and technical equipment merge into a single unit: The equipment blends seamlessly into the design, underlines the character of the room and at the same time emphasizes its functionality.

OLENA Innenarchitektur, with many years of experience in SPA planning, also takes over the design of the SPA equipment. In this way, the overall concept of the SPA can be harmoniously continued into the equipment.

All materials and surfaces were defined by OLENA Innenarchitektur, the detailed plans were created and the precise execution for the SPA outfitter was made possible.

OLENA Innenarchitektur developed two new cabins for the SPA project of the Sporthotel Olymp:

– Modern steam bath

A simple but special design characterizes the new steam bath. The selected tiles, with their special look and structure, create a natural and at the same time elegant ambience. Soft earth tones and warm light are complemented by exclusive natural motifs and backlit crystal elements. Three-dimensional structures bring additional depth and richness of detail to the room. Even under dimmed light and in combination with the steam, an extraordinary atmosphere unfolds that combines modern design with an intensive wellness experience.

– Spacious Finnish sauna

The Finnish sauna impresses with a wide view of the alpine mountain panorama. Due to static and architectural conditions, it received an unusual floor plan – a circumstance that offered OLENA Innenarchitektur the opportunity to think “out of the box”. Based on this, a sauna with different areas as well as seating and reclining options was developed. In this way, guests can enjoy privacy despite the spaciousness of the room. The room layout allows you to simultaneously experience the panoramic view of the mountains and perceive the carefully integrated design details.

The curved shapes of the benches break up the strictly linear room concept and give the room a modern, extraordinary look. Recurring curves throughout the room create a harmonious overall picture. The dynamic structure of the bench slats also sets exciting accents and enhances the lively effect of the design.

The interior design is based on a warm-toned material palette of light and dark wood, which is processed in precise layering and geometry. The bench landscapes follow a soft, organic line that fluidly structures the room and at the same time ensures ergonomic comfort.

A central design element is the crystal top in the sauna stove, which acts as a sculptural highlight and gives the room a calm, almost meditative center.

The indirect lighting, precisely integrated into seating areas, wall panels and ceilings, emphasizes the architectural contours and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. In particular, the gently curved lines of light on the ceiling give the room depth and dynamics, while the vertically placed slits of light in the dark wooden panels create an exciting rhythm.

The material combination of structured stone floor, smooth wall surfaces and finely processed wood conveys high quality and durability. Overall, the design embodies a modern interpretation of traditional sauna culture: functionally well thought out, atmospherically staged and aesthetically consistently implemented.

The detailed planning ensures that the design of the wellness cabins can be taken over by any specialist company and implemented in accordance with the intended presentation.

With the new pool area, the spa of the Sporthotel Olymp becomes a holistic place of well-being.
A compact floor plan concept convinces with sophisticated functionality and a harmonious vision.

The newly designed pool area presents itself as a quiet retreat, which creates an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation through its balanced combination of materiality, light and geometry.

The pool forms the central element of the room and is effectively staged by warm, indirect lighting. Ribbons of light in the ceiling and wall emphasize the lines and depth of the room and create a harmonious overall picture.

The material palette of nature-inspired surfaces such as wood, stone and structured tiles creates an exciting dialogue between naturalness and modern elegance. Accentuating round elements set design highlights, while a decorative moss circle brings in a green, vibrant component and takes up the theme of “nature in the interior”.

Since the room is often used by families with children, despite the overall limited space, a furnishing with spacious loungers and seating groups was chosen. This offers various retreats and underlines the concept of holistic comfort.

The lighting concept of the pool area follows the overarching design strategy of the entire SPA area and forms a visual and atmospheric connection between the individual zones. The lighting is deliberately indirect and staged in zones to create tranquility, depth and spatial orientation.

Warm, linearly guided ribbons of light emphasize ceiling and wall finishes and underline the clear architectural language of the room. They define transitions and direct the view to central elements, in particular the pool, which receives a lively dynamic through subtle reflections and light reflections. The ceiling lights in a geometric arrangement are repeated in the other areas of the SPA, creating a consistent, recognizable lighting motif. This combination of indirect light and precisely placed accents creates a balanced atmosphere between tranquility and elegance.

Detailed planning and execution

The creation of accurate and detailed plans as well as wall views plays a decisive role for the precise execution of such a complex and special design. This also includes the lighting and electrical concept, as the combination of different lighting elements is a central component of the room. Each luminaire as well as the positioning of the LED light strips were carefully thought out and precisely depicted in the plans of OLENA Innenarchitektur.
